About the Collection

The Mini Art TacTiLe Collection is literally an answer to a prayer. Before the 2020 pandemic, I was making collage assemblage from found materials and trash. In the wintertime, I accidentally found myself in the Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina, where there is no trash and the couch surfing in the winter of 2020 started to taper off as folks tightened their pods. So I had to find a room to rent asap. Many housing listings later, I went up into the mountains, to a house on Gateway Mountain.The first thing the homeowner said to me, “Watch how the mountains change your art.” Seed planted.

Well-primed for a giant leap, deep winter pando, I participated in a winter solstice ceremony with a group of women with whom I had been gathering monthly for the three years prior via Zoom. Taking turns around the circle, putting our prayer into the perverbial fire, I didn't know what I was going to say until my turn:

“What is my next intimate art companion that will guide the next chapter of my life?”

And at the end of that six hour ceremony, I had made the ceremonial soul art collage and also, there on my art table, a baker's dozen of these 1 1/2 inch MicroMini “TacTiLes” beaming up at me.

I knew instantly - Love at first bright-colored sight of paint-strooned lil’ morsels of my soul! …prayer answered.
